North County School/Business Partnership
Annual Projects:
Leadership
Academy:
The Leadership
Academy is designed for 7th grade students
and held in October. It is normally attended
by more than 75 students from area North
County middle schools. The goal is to offer
leadership skills and training to enable
students to become leaders in the school
communities. Facilitators from NCADA work
with the students. Schools select students
to participate based on those who are identified
as potential leaders. Follow-up sessions
are held in individual schools and for the
entire group throughout the year.
Ethics
Seminar:
The Ethics
Seminar is designed for junior students
and held in November. More than 200 juniors
from area high schools attend. It is currently
held at St. Louis Community College-Florissant
Valley. Representatives from 35 area businesses
facilitate 8-10 students discussing ethical
dilemmas. Students learn how to make decisions,
sources of influence, and how their own
values can affect their decisions.
Career
Opportunity Fair:
The Career
Opportunity Fair, held in February, is designed
for high school freshmen and sophomores.
Students attend three sessions based on
their career path choices. They have more
than 30 different careers to choose from,
each with different representatives at the
fair.
Jobs
Skills Training Workshop:
The Job Skills
Training Workshop will help students learn
a variety of skills to update and improve
their future job searches. Workshops include:
developing a winning resume, where to look
for jobs, how to fill out applications,
dressing for success, interviewing and on
the job behaviors and how to request the
right references.
