on North County: "Comeback Kid"
North County
has received considerable attention recently
from the St. Louis County Economic Council,
which has characterized the region's opportunity
for sustained economic growth as "excellent."
One of the Council's chief projects is North
Park 300 acre tract just north of Interstate
70 and east of Interstate 170. This area
is projected to provide 18,000 jobs upon
stabilization and have a cumulative economic
impact of more than $7 billion. Expected
use includes industrial/high-tech, offices/corporate
headquarters, research, service centers
and more. The Council also has been instrumental
in the development of Wellston Industrial
Park, a 24-acre light industrial area, and
Cornerstone Industrial Park, a 15-acre site
adjacent to the Wellston MetroLink station.
The project includes street and access improvements
and represents about a $6 million investment.
The $57 million dollar Natural Bridge Road
Redevelopment Area in the City of Normandy
will impact 125 acres and will be used for
commercial, residential and office space.
