April 6th is just a few days away, please remember to get out and vote. One of the important issues on this ballot is the St. Louis County's Proposition A, which would provide critical financial support for the restoration and long-term better service and expansion of transit services for the St. Louis region. A BIG CONGRATULATIONS to two of NCI's outstanding members. NCI board member Diana Gulotta and her staff in the Hazelwood School District Communication's Dept. were honored with 13 awards for their excellence in school communications by the Missouri School Public Relations Association. NCI member, Keith Took, owner of Old Town Donuts has also been chosen as this year's Business Person of the Year by the Greater North County Chamber of Commerce. Happy 50th Anniversary to, the Florissant Rotary Club! They have supported this organization and our community throughout the years very generously. The Public Policy Research Center Photography Project celebrates its first 5 years with a special exhibition sponsored by The Missouri History Museum on April 6th from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. There will be a reception, exhibition and book signing in honor of the Photography Project's participants, community groups, partners, and donors. The Florissant Rotary Club is celebrating their 50th Anniversary on April 10th at 6pm at Yacovelli's Restuarant. Ritenour School District's Buder Elementary will host its Third Annual Bazaar on April 24. The event takes place from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. at 10350 Baltimore Ave. in St. Ann. They will give individuals an opportunity to sell gently used items. Individuals can purchase a vendor space for $10. Sponsored by the Buder PTO, the Buder Bazaar is the only event of its kind in the area. Food and refreshments will also be available. All proceeds from the sale of items will be profit for vendors. Maryland Heights Chamber of Commerce and the Northwest Chamber of Commerce invites you to attend their Super Power Networking program on Thursday, April 22nd, 7:30 a.m. registration/ 8-9:00 a.m. program at Orlando gardens, 2050 Dorsett Village, Maryland Heights, 63043, Continental Breakfast Included. Christian Hospital is offering an AARP Driver Safety Program for drivers 50 and older on April 27, 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Detrick Building, Atrium B. This four-hour refresher course will help you tune up your driving skills and avoid injury. The cost is $12 for AARP members; $14 for non-AARP members, payable to the instructor the day of training. The Spanish Lake Community Association will be having their Spring Event on Saturday, May 1st, from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. on the grounds of the Twillman House at Bellefontaine and Redman in Spanish Lake. The Plant Sale will include plants grown in the community association's prize winning garden at the corner of Larimore and Trampe Roads and at the Twillman House as well as specimens donated by Spanish Lake Gardeners. Pattonville School District's High School Renaissance and Character Education Committee is hosting the school's fourth annual "Taste of Pattonville" Sampler Night, a fun event featuring samples from restaurants and businesses in the Pattonville area. The event will take place from 5:30 to 8 p.m., April 1 in the cafeteria of Pattonville High School, 2497 Creve Coeur Mill Road in Maryland Heights. Tickets are $8 for children in kindergarten through fifth-grade and $12 in advance for sixth-graders through adults. Tickets not purchased in advance are $15 per person at the door. Christian Hospital and Northwest HealthCare have been awarded the highest level of accreditation by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) based on the results of recent on-site inspections. Hazelwood School District's Communications Department was recently honored with 13 awards from the Missouri School Public Relations Association. In addition, Diana Gulotta, assistant superintendent for communications for HSD, was named president-elect of the statewide organization. CLICK HERE [PDF] for more details.
Congrats to North Technical High School Students who were recently inducted into the National Technical Honor Society: Freda Brown, Apryl Brown, Monique Cook, Appollonia Davis, Kyle Dumas, Shambria Echols, Jessica Harvey, Jasmine Harvey, Michael Jones, Jessica Krysik, Nicole Lindeman, Cara Patterson, Brittany McNutt, Julian Sanders, Rasheen Taylor, Sheron Thomas, Jasmine Walker, Nekidra Whitfield, Natoshia Bates, Sandi Bowers, Mary Bufford, Kelsey Conley, Leri Gabriel, Chantall Knibb, Carly Jones, Jasmine Oatts, Lorenzo Parks, DeAndre Ross and Stephen White. These students attained a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher, demonstrated good leadership qualities and received strong teacher recommendations.

Esther Angelos
Congrats to North Technical High School instructor Esther Angelos who was selected as the SkillsUSA Teacher of the Year for the State of Missouri. Under her supervision, North Tech will be sending 55 students to the State SkillsUSA Competition at Linn State Technical College.
Kudos to the Trinity Catholic High School science team students who earned 487 out of 500 points at the Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering sectional contest of the Academic Challenge competitionTrinity now advances to the state finals April 13 at Missouri University of Science & Technology in Rolla. Pattonville School District has earned the prestigious Meritorious Budget Award from the Association of School Business Officials International for excellence in the preparation and issuance of its 2009-2010 annual budget. Fewer than 100 school districts in the nation earn this award each year.
Happy Anniversary to The Public Policy Research Center (PPRC)! The PPRC is celebrating 20 Years of Applied Research and Community Service. "Since the beginning, PPRC has understood its role as an applied policy research resource for the civic and public communities of metropolitan St. Louis," said PPRC Director Mark Tranel (past NCI Board of Directors Chairman). "We have always worked to engage the community through applied research. Over 20 years, the importance of this emphasis has never changed." A City of Hazelwood company, Convergys recently announced its plans to add 200 full-time jobs to its contact center in Hazelwood. The addition of a new client prompted the need to hire new workers to provide outbound sales support for a new program. Please CLICK HERE for further details.
The Greater North County Chamber of Commerce will award scholarships to two Hazelwood West High School students through its annual scholarship program. The Chamber has presented scholarships to area students for the past seven years, totaling $30,000. CLICK HERE [PDF] for more information.

Metro moves transit-dependent people to work, to school, and to all the other places that make life meaningful. Providing transportation to workers and the transit-dependent is a vital mission, and one that Metro takes very seriously. Over the past several months, Metro and East-West Gateway Council of Governments have worked with the community to shape a 30-year plan for moving transit forward. Please take time to watch these two Metro videos: I Love Transit and Hitchiker. Please remember to vote for Proposition A on April 6.
Missouri Department of Transportation has approved a redesign for the ramps at the Interstate 270 and Page Avenue (Route 364) interchange as part of the Interstate 270 and Dorsett/Page project in the City of Maryland Heights. More information can be found at www.270dorsettpage.com

PSD 2010 High School Drill Team
Pattonville School District's High School varsity drill team was named Division 5A State Champions at the 2010 Missouri Dance Team Association State Competition. They earned first place trophies for their pom and hip hop routines during the competition. CLICK HERE for press release.
Ritenour School District's students and staff at Kratz Elementary District joined together for a worthwhile cause and collected more than $1,500 for earthquake victims in Haiti. The school gathered nearly a half-ton of pennies, donating a total of $1,535 to the American Red Cross to assist in the organization's Haiti relief efforts.
The Riverview Gardens School District is moving forward with plans to begin Prop R Bond Issue projects. On March 16, the School Board voted to hire Ameresco Inc. as the district's project manager for renovation projects included in the $15 million, no-tax increase bond issue that voters approved in November. Dr. Steve Price
The Hazelwood School District Board of Education unanimously approved the hiring of Dr. Steve Price as the new superintendent. Price has more than 32 years of experience in education. He most recently served as the superintendent for seven years in Middletown City Schools, a district of about 7,000 students in Ohio. He starts July 1, 2010. CLICK HERE for the rest of the story.

Dr. Clive Coleman
Riverview Gardens School District's Board of Education voted to hire Dr. Clive Coleman as the district's new superintendent. Coleman comes to Riverview Gardens School District with more than 30 years of experience as an administrator and teacher in urban school districts. He currently serves as a consultant for Stanford University. Prior to his current position, he served in the Kansas City (Mo.) School District as an associate superintendent, chief academic officer and interim superintendent. WELCOME to North County, Dr. Coleman!
The St. Louis Economic Council graduated its first class of nearly two dozen graduates. The eight-week certificate program began in September 2009 and concluded March 2010. The program combined both the academic and practical aspects of proper economic development techniques. St. Louis County Economic Council wants to remind you about BOOST, an innovative small business loan program that is deemed the first of its kind in the United States and has earned international recognition. St. Louis County has $60 million in Recovery Zone Facility Bonds (RZFB) from the federal government as part of the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act.
