A Message from NCI President/CEO, Rebecca Zoll

The holiday season approaches; a festive time for celebration and cheer. I encourage you to please shop local and support your local businesses as you look for that perfect gift for family and friends this holiday season. Keeping dollars in our community helps strengthen our local economy. This season is also a perfect time to reflect on the accomplishments of this past year and continue to grow into the upcoming year. NCI achieved so much in 2013 and has opened communication with many individuals to continue working on building a stronger community in 2014.


NCI is a once again the proud sponsor of Valley Industries Mayors’ Shamrock Ball, taking place on March 8, 2014 and The City Ferguson’s Twilight Run/Walk, to take place on May 17, 2014. Lutheran High School North invites you to join their Christmas concerts. The Choral Concert will be Friday, December 6th, at Chapel of the Cross Lutheran Church, 11645 Benham Road, at 7 p.m. Under the theme "Let Us Worship and Adore, Christ, the Lord," the concert will feature both the Crusader Chorus and Concentus Select Choir. The Instrumental Christmas Concert will be at Lutheran North on Saturday, December 7th, also beginning at 7 p.m. Under the theme, "Silent Night, Wondrous Light," the concert will feature the Intermediate Band, Jazz Ensemble, and Concert Band. Both concerts are free and open to the public.
City of Florissant is pleased to announce that the City of Florissant and Old Town Partners will be hosting “Christmas in Old Town” on Saturday, December 7th from 2:00 to 5:30 p.m. in the Florissant City Council Chambers. For more information, please click here.

Incarnate Word Academy is hosting a Christmas concert featuring the Marian Choristers, the Circle Honors Choir, and the Chamber Instrumental Group performing a wide variety of sacred and secular music. The concert is followed by an exhibition of student-created art and a reception with holiday cookies and punch. This event will be on Tuesday, December 10th at 7:30 pm at Incarnate Word Academy theater, 2788 Normandy Drive, Bel-Nor, MO  63121. This event is free and open to the public. White Auto Body will host the 14th annual White Christmas Program on Tuesday, December 10th. This is a program where the Whites present two refurbished vehicles to deserving individuals in the community. For more information, please click here.
Riverview Gardens School District will hold a second public hearing on December 16th to discuss the accreditation status and options for the future regarding the Riverview Gardens School District. The hearing will be open to the public and will take place from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. at Riverview Gardens School District Family & Community Resource Center, 1160 St. Cyr Road, St. Louis. City of Normandy’s Officer Pete Liparato, received the Medal of Valor award at the 2013 Medal of Valor luncheon on November 14, 2013. Officer Liparato was honored for his heroics on June 17th after pursuing a suspected felon. During a fall while in pursuit, Officer Liparato sustained a head injury. While injured he was still able to take the suspect into custody. Normandy citizen, Rodney Jennings, who also received a Medal of Valor award, noticed Officer Liparato was severely injured and losing a great amount of blood. Without hesitating, Jennings rushed to Liparato’s aid applying pressure and assisted medical personnel. Liparato was rushed into surgery and received nearly twelve hundreds stitches to his face and head. Having severed an artery, he lost nearly five pints of blood. Officer Liparato and Mr. Jennings showed great courage and dedication to the community and are truly deserving of this honor.

Lutheran High School North senior, Brandon Johnston, has been designated a Commended Student in the National Merit Scholarship Program, having placed among the top 5% of more than 1.5 million juniors who took the PSAT last year.
Mayor Monica Huddleston, City of Greendale, received the East-West Gateway Outstanding Local Government Achievement award. Mayor Huddleston’s experience and leadership earned her this well-deserved award and will also continue to be a great asset to our community.
Boain Dental Care and Associates celebrated their new flag pole at their official Flag Raising ceremony on Veterans Day, November 11th. The VFW was at the event and officiated the first raising of the flag.

Jennings School District is one of few districts in the region with a school that recently received special honors from the Missouri Department of Elementary & Secondary Education this week for high achievement. Jennings School District celebrated Veterans Day at Jennings Senior High School. Jennings School District Veterans were honored and given awards.
Jennings School District received a visit from Build-A-Bear Founder and CEO, Maxine Clark at Mr. Ellery Clark’s Entrepreneurship class at the Jennings College Prep Academy. Lutheran High School North’s Crusaders football team won their District Championship and advanced to the State Quarterfinals. The Crusaders ended their winning season in State Semifinals where they lost to Lamar, State Champions for the past two years.

Pattonville School District’s High School speech and debate team program has again earned significant recognition from the National Forensic League (NFL). Under the direction of teacher James Frazier, the program is ranked among the Top 5 percent of schools nationwide and earned membership into the League’s prestigious 200 Club. Beth Moritz, Pattonville High School English teacher and Pattonville’s current Teacher of the Year, and Alexis Moore, a Special School District countywide teacher of the visually impaired who works at Rose Acres Elementary School. Riverview Gardens School District hosted the NFL Hall of Fame and presented its Heart of Hall of Famer program along with Hall of Famer, Jackie Smith.
