The Greater North County Chamber of Commerce is now accepting applications for its annual scholarship program. Application deadline is Friday, February 27, 2009. Applications can be picked up at your local high school or by contacting the chamber directly at (314) 831-3500 or online at www.greaternorthcountychamber.com/ScholarshipApp2009.pdf. Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors who reside in the Greater North County Chamber of Commerce service area, which includes Florissant, Hazelwood, Black Jack, Spanish Lake, and parts of unincorporated St. Louis County.
Ritenour School District will sell $20 million in general obligation bonds on February 5. These municipal bonds are the first to be sold as part of the $50 million Proposition K bond issue voters approved in November 2008. Closing for the first series of bonds will be February 17. Standard and Poors rate the Ritenour bonds AA+. The bonds can be purchased in increments of $5,000. The remaining $30 million of bonds are expected to be sold in 2010 to fund construction projects targeted for completion later in the overall schedule.
