Hello & Happy New Year!
As we kick-off 2009, North County
Incorporated, Regional Development Association welcomes
in a new Board
of Directors. Lillie Dumas with Commerce Bank
will be taking over the reins from 2007-2008 President,
Mark Tranel. Mark did a fantastic job this past
year, spending numerous hours working to help lead
the organization to have an extremely active and
successful year. A BIG THANK YOU to Mark for all
his hard work and dedication. (Click

Kudos to the
Bellefontaine Neighbors Police Department for
being recognized as a State Certified Law Enforcement
Agency at the Missouri Police Chief’s annual conference
in December 2008. The Bellefontaine Neighbors Police
Department is the first Police Department in the State
of Missouri to be recognized as “certified” by the
Missouri Police Chief’s Charitable Foundation Certification

School District for having two Hazelwood educators
earn National Board Certification. Kelly Gilchrist
of McCurdy Elementary School and Lisa Williams of
Lusher Elementary School completed a rigorous program,
that sometimes takes up to three years to complete,
to become nationally board certified. |

Kudos
to SSM DePaul Health Center regarding the opening
of their brand new 20-bed patient unit. The telemetry
unit is part of the SSM Neurosciences Institute and
has been specially equipped and staffed to treat stroke
patients and others needing complex neurological care.

Installation begins
for Lambert’s New Baggage Carousels - Lambert-St.
Louis International Airport takes another big
step this week in its Airport Experience Program with
the installation of a new in-line baggage system in
the Main Terminal. Lambert is replacing all six of
its Main Terminal baggage carousels and two large-claim
units. The project also includes the installation
of a new conveyer system that travels between airline
baggage tugs and the carousels. Only one carousel
will be shut down at any one time. The project is
scheduled for completion no later than June. The $5.5
million Baggage Claim project is part of the first
phase of renovation projects (totaling $16.7 million)
in Lambert’s Airport Experience Program. CLICK

Louis Mills Mall in Hazelwood has a new store,
work wear manufacturer Dickies opened its first Missouri
retail store. Dickies said it chose Hazelwood for
its new retail store because of the city’s proximity

of Florissant has finalized contract negotiations
with Meridian Waste Haulers for all waste and recycling
residential services for residents of Florissant.
This new program will go into effect April 1, 2009.

Spanish Lake Community
Association needs your help on Saturday morning,
January 10th at 9 a.m. They will be cleaning up foreclosure
properties along with County staff from Neighborhood
Preservation and Neighbors Helping Neighbors. Jim
Kircherer, Channel 9, will be filming volunteer efforts
for a January 26th program. Meet at The Twillman House
at 11840 Bellefontaine Road. Dress warmly for the

Greater North County Chamber of Commerce is now
accepting applications for their annual scholarship
program. Application deadline is Friday, February
27, 2009. Applications can be picked up at your local
high school or by contacting the chamber office at
314-831-3500. Scholarships are awarded to graduating
seniors who reside in the Greater North County Chamber
of Commerce service area which includes Florissant,
Hazelwood, Black Jack, Spanish Lake and parts of unincorporated
north St. Louis County. For more information contact
