Hello. Can you believe that July is almost here! We hope that you have a very pleasant Independence Day holiday weekend. Be sure to note in our event section that several of our cities are hosting July 4th fireworks celebrations that you can take advantage of.

North County Incorporated is excited to announce that it has received a $6,000 grant from the U.S. Bank Foundation, which will be used to advance the organization's growth and planning initiatives. A big "THANKS" to NCI Board member Sandra Weber, Vice-President and District Manager with US Bank, for helping NCI secure this grant.

The Wal-Mart Foundation also made a generous donation to North County Inc. this past month. Wal-Mart Regional General Manager Glenda Fleming Willis presented a check to NCI to help assist the organization's stakeholder development and strategic planning process.

We are seeking nominations and sponsorships for our NCI Salutes 30 Leaders in their Thirties campaign. Be sure to nominate an up-and-coming North County leader in their thirties who is making a significant positive impact on our community through their profession and/or community involvement. The 30 Leaders will be recognized at a reception on Friday, September 24th at Norwood Hills Country Club. The deadline for nominations is July 16, 2009. The City of Florissant is having a July 4th celebration on the grounds of the James J. Eagan Civic Center at Florissant Valley Park. Ritenour School District is hosting Books on the Go! This campaign goes from June 9th to July 29th. Books on the Go! is a mobile library bringing books to school aged children living in the district. CLICK HERE for more information.
The City of Ferguson's next Live Well Ferguson Sunday Parkways event will be on Sunday, July 25 from 1 - 4 p.m. This FREE event promotes physical activity, health and social unity in a relaxed environment without automobile traffic. Streets will be closed to traffic between 1 and 4 p.m. and that time will be reserved for activities such as cycling, walking, jogging, dance, aerobics, etc. CLICK HERE for more information.

Maryland Heights Chamber of Commerce invites the community to mark your calendar for The Annual Monster Mash Dash 5k/10k event set for Saturday, October 30th at Westport Plaza.
Child Center-Marygrove recently honored Bonnie Barczykoski for her work to benefit children along with being a dedicated committee member for the Have a Heart Build a Future gala.
The Christian Hospital Auxiliary recently awarded three $1,000 scholarships to local high school seniors preparing for college and a $1,500 donation to TEAM (a food pantry in Florissant). Delmar Gardens North ranked sixth in the St. Louis Business Journals List of Largest Nursing Homes in the region. Congrats!

The Ferguson-Florissant School District and Pattonville School District has earned the annual "What Parents Want" award from SchoolMatch®, a national firm specializing in rating K-12 schools by using auditable data. Several Hazelwood School District students earned achievement awards from High Schools That Work (HSTW). Students qualify for the HSTW award by completing a college preparatory course of study in at least two of three subject areas - English/language arts, mathematics or science. Historic Florissant awarded three awards to local homeowners for their continued protection and care of the historic homes in the city. Award recipients were Patty & Daniel Sosa, owners of Dooley's Florist and Gifts, Patrick & Jane Boyle, owners of the Michael Castello House and Mr. & Mrs. John Ortwig was award this year's 2010 Zimmerman Award Union Church at 646 rue St. Francois.

The City of Ferguson is offering two college graduates a special Graduation Gift from the Ferguson Neighborhood Improvement Program worth $2500 that may be applied toward the purchase of a home in Ferguson. The new SSM DePaul Rehabilitation Hospital has broken ground on the campus of SSM DePaul Health Center. This state-of-the-art facility will provide comprehensive inpatient medical rehabilitation care to patients with stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury and other conditions.
