NCI SEEKS NOMINEES FOR ANNUAL RECOGNITION AWARDS!

Mark your calendars for NCI's 34th Annual Breakfast on Friday, May 13, 2011 at the St. Louis Airport Marriott at 7:30-9am. Once again, we will present awards to those individuals who have shown a strong commitment to the North County region through their business, civic, and humanitarian acts. We need your help identifying these key individuals. Please consider nominating a company/service or person who is enhancing North County in one of these categories: Business Development, Community Development, Public Service, or the Elmer Belsha Leadership Award. State Legislators attend North County Legislative Reception at Christian Hospital

This past month, community, civic, and business leaders attended the Legislative Reception for North County at Christian Hospital. This collaborative event, hosted by North County Incorporated, and area chamber’s, the Greater North County Chamber of Commerce, the Maryland Heights Chamber of Commerce, and the Northwest Chamber of Commerce provided an opportunity for area leaders to hear from our State legislators about matters affecting North County and the State of Missouri. Program moderator, Ann Brand, Director of Community and Government Relations from St. Louis Community College, presented the 2011 North County legislative priorities on economic development, education, healthcare, transportation, and general issues.

A big "thank you" to our State legislators who attended and participated in this year's event: Senator Jane Cunningham, Senator Tim Green, Representative Margo McNeil, Representative Mary Nichols, Representative Churie Spreng, Representative Sylvester Taylor, Representative Clem Smith and Representative Jake Zimmerman. Ferguson-Florissant School District’s McCluer North  on receiving a $6000 donation from Paul Cerame Ford in their Drive One 4 Ur School Campaign. The Drive One 4 Ur School program donates $20 to $6000 to fund special projects and activities at the designated school.

Ritenour School District was honored by St. Louis County Executive Charlie A. Dooley when he made a special visit to the new Ritenour School for Early Childhood Education. The County Executive was very impressed by the $5.3 million facility. The building was designed and built to meet the strict standards of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification – meaning the building and land were designed and landscaped for energy and water efficiency, reducing carbon emissions and creating a healthy indoor environment. St. Louis County has set up a Pet Abuse Hotline in hopes that it will lead to better care for animals throughout the county. It’s called Heffie’s Help Line. St. Louis County Executive Charlie Dooley admitted that the county needs to improve its animal welfare services and this helpline is a step in the right direction. Heffie’s Help Line is 314-615-1777.
