CONGRATULATIONS! to NCI past-president and current
board member Chris Wright, Superintendent, Hazelwood
School District, on being named the Missouri
Superintendent of the Year by the Missouri Association
of School Administrators. An honor well deserved.
A big “THANKS” to the Maryland Heights Chamber
of Commerce for the 2008 Service Award for the work
being done on behalf of NCI and the North County
community. It was truly an honor to accept this
recognition.
I also want to send a warm welcome to NCI’s newest

Northwest Chamber of Commerce: 10th Annual Chili-Dog
Golf Tournament is scheduled for Friday,
November 7, 2008 at Innsbrook Resort Golf Course.
The cost is $300 per foursome or $75 per individual.
It includes a box lunch, 18-holes of golf with cart,
2 drink tickets, hotdogs, hamburgers, and a chili
dinner in the clubhouse afterwards, followed by

Hazelwood School
District’s Superintendent Dr. Chris L. Wright
named Missouri Superintendent of the Year by The Missouri
Association of School Administrators (MASA). As the
recipient of this award, Wright will represent Missouri
in the national Superintendent of the Year program
conducted by the American Association of School Administrators.
The Missouri award is sponsored by PFM Asset Management,
LLC, which is the program administrator for the Missouri
Securities Investment Program. Dr. Wright received
a commemorative ring, as well as a $500 scholarship

School District for having six students recognized
by North County Churches Uniting for Racial Harmony
and Justice and the North County Youth Task Force

Randy Gardner of
News 20 for winning his third Emmy Award in the
past five years. His winning video was called "Beyond
the Badge", looking at the families of officers who
have lost their life in the line of duty. Pictured

Timothy
M. Tucker named Vice President of Real Estate
& Community Development for St. Louis County Economic
Council. Tucker is responsible for managing a
wide range of economic development projects throughout
St. Louis County. His primary focus is to identify
new initiatives and redevelopment opportunities while
overseeing the activities of the Real Estate Division.

The Challenger Learning
Center-St. Louis on receiving a $5,250 grant from
the Boeing ECF to purchase the Center’s newest program,
“Return to the Moon™.” The new mission scenario is
geared toward middle school students and is set in
the year 2020. Students assume roles of astronauts
and engineers and work together to accomplish their
mission of returning to the Moon. |

High School 2008 graduate Brittany Daniel has
been named the 2008 winner of the Donald M. Suggs
Scholarship and Trinity chemistry and physics teacher
Frank Cange was honored by the St. Louis Chapter
of the American Association of Physics Teachers as
the Outstanding High School Physics Teacher in the
St. Louis area. |

Wednesday, October 29, the Maryland Heights
Chamber of Commerce recognized several North
County Incorporated members for services to the
community and chamber.
NCI past board member, SSM Healthcare’s Steve
Johnson, received the Business Investment Award.
Fred Weber, Inc.’s Tony Giordano was honored
with the chamber’s Business Leader of the Year award.
Pattonville Fire District’s Cpt. Mark Woolbright
was honored with the Public Service Award. NCI’s
executive director Rebecca Zoll was honored
with the chamber’s 2008 Service Award. “It was
a wonderful opportunity to see Rebecca recognized
for the quality and effectiveness of her service
and how she does make North St. Louis County one
community,” said

St.
Louis County and St. Louis County Economic Council
has been successful in bringing Schattdecor, Inc.
German-based Schattdecor, a global printer of saturating
grade papers for the laminate industry to North St.
Louis County. They will construct a manufacturing
facility with the capability of expansion in the City
of Maryland Heights. Real property investment is estimated
to total $22 million. 107 jobs will be created. |

Lambert-St. Louis
International Airport closed its passenger pickup
zone along Arrivals Drive (Bag Claim level) at the
Main Terminal during a nearly month long sidewalk
rehabilitation project that begins 10 p.m. on Monday,
Oct. 27. A temporary active passenger pickup zone
will be available in the Main Terminal Garage, effective
at the same time the current pickup zone is closed.
A temporary one-hour grace period on parking rates
will be in effect for motorists using the garage for
passenger pickup. |

Biz School Honored: The College of Business Administration
at the University of Missouri-St. Louis is ranked
in the Princeton Review's 2009 guidebook "The Best
296 Business Schools." Many of the UMSL business students
interviewed for the book described their classes as
cutting edge with accessible professors. Students
can obtain a bachelor's and master's degree at the
College of Business Administration, and can either
receive a bachelor's degree traditionally or online.
Among the business graduates, many of whom are employed
in the finance industry, the average starting salary

Emerson Supports
Local Teach For America: Emerson is making a $300,000
donation to Teach For America in St. Louis to strengthen
the recruitment and training of quality college graduates
who teach in the region's under-served public schools.
The graduates who commit to the two-year program will
teach in the St. Louis Public Schools, the Normandy
and Wellston school districts and city charter schools.
This grant is the largest single-year donation received
by Teach For America in St. Louis. This is the second
year the company has made a donation, increasing its
contribution by $100,000 from last year. click

Scripts Honored for Diversity at Nov. 13 Salute: Express
Scripts, a pharmaceutical delivery firm, will be receiving
the 2008 St. Louis American Foundation Corporate Diversity
Award at the 9th Annual Salute to Excellence in Business
Awards and Networking Luncheon. Express Scripts' Dr.
Isaac Butler teamed up with Dr. Steven Player of Barnes-Jewish
Hospital to create more African-American pharmacists
by establishing the four-week BEST Pharmacy Summer
Institute Program for area African-American high school
students which are held at the St. Louis College of
Pharmacy. Express Scripts has also developed the Express
Track supplier diversity initiative, which encourages
the company to develop relationships with other diverse
