is hosting its 16th Annual Jeff Clinton Memorial
Child Center~Marygrove Golf Classic on September

out for the Kidgits Free Skate Day on September

City of Florissant is inviting the public to
Cruise the Mighty Mississippi on September
26th from 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Participants will travel
by motor coach from Florissant to the St. Louis Riverfront
and will then board either the Riverboat Tom Sawyer
or the Becky Thatcher for a five-hour narrated cruise
toward Alton. Registration is $65 for residents and
$78 for non-residents; a buffet lunch will be provided.

Historical Society will host "Tea at Taille"
on September 27th at 2 p.m. at historic
Taille de Noyer on the McCluer High School Campus.

Pattonville
School District students for scoring in the Top
10 among area school districts on the state's first
end-of-course exams last year. The recently released
results show that 83.8 percent of Pattonville High
School Students scored advanced or proficient on the
English II test and 72.7 percent scored advanced or
proficient in Biology, coming in above the state average
in both subjects. The results also showed that middle
and high school students contributed to the district
scoring well above the state average in Algebra I,
with 63 percent of Pattonville students scoring advanced

Ritenour School District's Carole Rose Ebert Klein,
Sarah Elizabeth Leen and Dr. Giles McCoy for recently
being selected to the Ritenour High School (RHS) Hall
of Fame Class of 2009. Ms. Klein was the personnel
manager for many orchestras in the San Francisco Bay
Area; Ms. Leen was the Senior Photo Editor at National
Geographic in Washington, D.C.; and Dr. McCoy, who
passed away in March, was a World War II hero and
member of the United States Marine Corps. They will
be inducted to the RHS Hall of Fame during a special

Ritenour School District's Jeff Leen, class
of 1975, on the release of his new book, "The Queen
of the Ring", which chronicles the career of Mildred
Burke, one of the top female professional wrestlers
of all-time. Mr. Leen is a six-time Pulitzer Prize

Mr. Thurwalker is a physical education teacher at

The City of Ferguson broke ground on August
17th for their new outdoor plaza, which will be located
at 501 S. Florissant Road. The plaza will feature
several green design elements, including pervious
surfacing and underground cisterns that will be used

The City of Hazelwood recently received two
brand new 2009 Volkswagen Beetles from Bommarito
Nissan, Honda and Volkswagen of North County.
A black VW Beetle was donated to be used as a DARE
Program Car and a white VW Beetle was donated to be
used as a Citizen Patrol Car. Bommarito donated the
cars as part of their Peace & Prosperity Campaign,
with the ultimate goal of fostering peace and prosperity

Emerson Electric
recently opened a $50 million global data center in
Ferguson, which officials said will be about one-third
more energy efficient than traditional data centers.
The 35,000-squre-foot center features a rooftop with
more than 550 solar panels that can generate enough
electricity to power an average home for three days.

Piper as interim superintendent after Dr. Chris L.
(Wright) Nicastro was selected as Commissioner of

Normandy
School District
brought a number of community members together on
August 22nd for "Reach Out to Dropouts" in an effort
to reclaim students who have dropped out of school
or who have the potential to drop out. Members of
the Normandy School District Board of Information
partnered with superintendents of schools, staff,
administrators, parents, business and community leaders
to canvass the community and visit the homes of selected
students in an effort to encourage dropouts to return

Ritenour School District broke ground on August
6th for its new School for Early Childhood Education
facility, which is expected to be completed in August
2010. More than 100 Ritenour students and staff members,
construction representatives and local elected officials

Board of Education in the official groundbreaking

The
Riverview Gardens School District School Board
set a 2009 tax rate on August 18th that will roll
back a levy to repay district taxpayers for an incorrect
tax rate set in 2007. The new 2009 tax rate will repay
$324,350 to residential and commercial real estate

At the same meeting, the Riverview Gardens School
Board also unanimously agreed to ask voters to decide
a $15 million bond issue proposal on November 3rd.
If approved by a 4/7 majority, the bonds would provide
crucial health and safety, security and classroom

St. Louis Community
College's Employment and Training Center has created
a new volunteer program called "Volunteer between
Careers" to help many of the area's laid-off workers
keep their skills current, learn new skills and network
in St. Louis until they are able to go back to work.
The program will also allow local organizations to
gain valuable assistance from the volunteers. For

St. Louis County Economic Council (SLCEC) announced
that the stimulus plan expands bond opportunities
for manufacturers. According to the SLCEC, among the
many incentives included in the American Recovery
and Reinvestment are special bond provisions that
offer manufacturing companies a previously unavailable
