North
County -
North County Incorporated's (NCI) award-winning
marketing and economic development campaigns
have been recognized by the Missouri
Economic Development Council for the
second year in a row. This year NCI
received two MEDC Marketing Awards.
The first recognition received was a
Video/Multi Media Presentation Award
for "North County, Right Here, Right
Now." This television special produced
by KMOV-TV and NCI Executive Director
Rebecca Zoll, highlighted the North
County community. It is broadcast on
KMOV-TV throughout the year and then
shown on the City of Black Jack's cable
station, News 20. The viewership of
this half-hour program exceeds 200,000
people throughout the St. Louis metropolitan
area. The show is also used for marketing
purposes by NCI and local businesses
for attraction and retention purposes.
"This is
the second year in a row NCI has received
a Marketing Award from MEDC. It is nice
to have confirmation that services we
are providing are consistent and viewed
as being worthy of an award," said Rebecca
Zoll, North County Inc.'s executive
director.
NCI also
received a Marketing Event Award for
the Developers Appreciation Reception.
This event allows municipal members
to market area benefits and opportunities
for development to area site selectors
and commercial developers. Developers,
working in North County, were recognized
for their contributions to the community.
Judging
for the MEDC Annual Awards was performed
by site selectors from across the nation.
"Statewide recognition of our work is
exciting. That site selectors from across
the country judged this years entries
and found ours worthy of recognition,
helps to validate that the services
we provide are beneficial and on target
with what other economic development
organizations nationwide are doing,
"said NCI Economic Development Chair
Mark Tranel, director of the Public
Policy Research Center at the University
of Missouri-St. Louis.
The awards
presented through the MEDC were created
to promote excellence in economic development
marketing in Missouri communities. A
campaign's overall impact, the ability
to create jobs, investment in a community
and Missouri, and overall professionalism
is the criteria used to judge each entry.
MEDC's mission is to serve as an authoritative
voice in Missouri on economic development,
public policy, marketing and communications.
NCI is
a regional development organization,
which acts as a catalyst to define and
advocate economic and community development
for North St. Louis County. NCI was
est. in 1977. Howard Nimmons, CPA, CFP
is the current president. The Board
of Directors is made up of community
leaders and business owners.
