The 2011 award recipients will be honored at NCI’s 34th Annual Breakfast on Friday, May 13, 2011, at 7:30 a.m. at the St. Louis Airport Marriott. NCI’s Business Development Awards are presented to those whose efforts positively affect the economic development and business climate of the North County area. On Friday, May 13, 2011 NCI will honor Mike Lonero, President of the Ferguson Special Business Dist. and owner of CORK Wine Bar and Vincenzo’s Italian Restaurant, Paul Cerame Auto Group, and SSM Rehabilitation Hospital/SSM Medical Partnership with Business Development Awards.
NCI’s Community Development Awards are presented to those whose efforts positively benefit youth, residents, civic organizations, or others through selfless acts. Beyond Housing, Carolyne Simpson, Business Development Officer with St. John’s Bank & Trust; Chief William Karabas with the City of Florissant’s Police Department and Chief Carl Wolf with the City of Hazelwood’s Police Department were chosen for this award.
Diana Weidinger, retired president of the Greater North County Chamber of Commerce and past Executive Board and Board member for NCI will receive the prestigious Elmer Belsha Leadership Award, which is presented annually to an individual whose long-term commitment to NCI and the North County region has had a positive impact on the community and/or public body that they serve.
Public Service Awards will be presented to outstanding individuals, elected, appointed, or employed by a public body whose long-time service has had a positive impact on the community and/or public body they serve. Mayor Jack Agnew, City of Dellwood; Senator Tim Green, State of Missouri; Mayor Robert Lowery, City of Florissant; Mayor Marty Rudloff, City of Bellefontaine Neighbors; Jeff Speigel, Superintendent of the Ferguson-Florissant School District will be this year’s Public Service Award recipients.
Special Recognition Awards will be presented to outstanding individuals who through their business and volunteer services exemplify leadership and service to the North County community, are dedicated to helping others, and improving the business environment and/or lives of those they serve. Bonnie Barczykowski, business owner of Curves, and Vickie C. Wade, Vice-President of Clinical Services for Betty Jean Kerr People’s Health Centers are this year’s Special Recognition Award recipients.
