Many of our municipal members are going
the extra mile and making a difference in
the lives of their residents through community
and economic development growth efforts. Each
quarter NCI will be recognizing these efforts.
We are delighted to be able to highlight some
of the wonderful improvements our municipal
leaders are bringing to their communities.
This quarter we say "GOOD FOR YOU" :
The City of Bellefontaine Neighbors
recently opened a new Miniature Golf Course,
located behind their Recreation Center. The
city is seeing increased interest in the Value
City/ National and K-Mart buildings. The development
at Highway 367 & 270 will be seeing some action
with the submission of the development plan
and lay-out of the proposed subdivision. They
have two new businesses, Traditions Salon
& Sap and Precious Love Day Care Academy and
they are expecting China Wok to open soon
on Bellefontaine Road.
The City of Florissant has partnered
with Lindenwood University to offer evening
classes leading to undergraduate and graduate
degrees in business, management and education.
Florissant has also recently renovated the
James J. Eagan Center to better serve its
residents.
The City of Jennings has announced
that Northland site developer Sansone has
purchased the property where the new Aldi's
and state office building are located and
they expect to purchase the remainder of the
site by the end of the year. They expect to
see demolition and new construction next year,
with a new Target store, a new Schnucks, and
several other stores and restaurants. Jennings
also has a new Phillips 66 Gas Mart on Lewis
& Clark at Jennings Road.
The Fort Bellefontaine Park located
in the unincorporated St. Louis County community
Spanish Lake recently got a $15,000 face-lift,
which added a 3-mile interpretive biking and
hiking trail. The trail winds around the park
giving users a peak at the past where Lewis
and Clark slept on the Tour of Discovery Expedition,
the grand stair case and where giant mastodons
and ground sloths roamed. Kudos to the Spanish
Lake Community Association and Dora Gianoulakis
and Mike O'Mara for helping secure the grant,
which made these improvements possible.
