North County Incorporated's Economic Development

Center, Bob Russell, Economic Developer for
the City of Florissant and Nancy Otte with
the Missouri Career Center, along with NCI
Executive Director Rebecca Zoll recently attended
the Missouri Economic Development Council's
2005 Spring Conference and The Governor's
Business Development Conference. The NCI Economic
Development Committee members joined more
than 350 of Missouri's professional economic
developers interested in promoting the expansion
and attraction of business and industry in
Missouri in attending the conference.
Past NCI executive board member, Patrick
McKeehan, Project Director of the Ford Hazelwood
Task Force was presented with the Presidents
Award for Outstanding Contributions from the
Missouri Economic Development Council's president
Rob O'Brian from Joplin, MO.
Current NCI Economic Development Chairperson,
Mark Tranel, Director of the Public Policy
Research Center was a featured panelist on
"Developing Financing: Navigating the Course
through Statutory Authorities" at the Governor's
Business Development Conference. This session
focused on cutting through the complexity
of accessing tools available for economic
development financing.
Educational sessions at the MEDC Conference
included "Urban and Rural Roundtables", "Best
Practices for Economic Development Organizations,"
and "How Communities are Effectively Using
Location One as a Marketing Tool." Sessions
at the Governor's Conference dealt with Financing,
Labor Studies, Public Relations, Entrepreneurial
Spirit, and the Missouri Industry Spotlight.
The Missouri Economic Development Council
is a statewide, non-profit association of
400+ economic developers and community leaders.
Created in 1979 to provide a unified voice
for economic development through its programs
in professional education, legislation, and
marketing, MEDC is the leading voice and advocate
for economic development in Missouri.
North County Incorporated is a regional development
organization, which acts as a catalyst to
define and advocate economic and community
development for North St. Louis County. NCI
was established in 1977. The Board of NCI
is composed of community leaders and business
owners. Howard Nimmons, CPA, CFP is the current
president.
