North County Incorporated -Thursday, January 19, in partnership with the Florissant Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Northwest Chamber of Commerce, hosted a Legislative Reception for North County at SSM DePaul Health Center. More than 200 community, civic and business leaders heard from State legislators about matters influencing the State of Missouri and North St. Louis County.

Larry Perney, president of the Northwest Chamber of Commerce, said that he was excited with the attendance and that he looked forward to future partnering opportunities with North County Incorporated and the Florissant Valley Chamber.

"The success of this event proves that collaborative efforts such as this one are worthwhile. The legislators can see that North County cares about the issues facing them and that in many instances they speak with one voice," said the president of North County Incorporated, Richard P. Dorsey, Attorney at Law.

State legislators in attendance were Senators Rita Days and Timothy Green, and House Representatives John Bowman, Michael Corcoran, Bruce Darrough, Barbara Fraser, Thomas George, Theodore Hoskins, Michael Spreng, Gina Walsh and Clint Zweifel.

NCI and the Chambers' joint 2006 Legislative Agenda was presented by moderator Ann Brand of St. Louis Community College-Florissant Valley. The legislative items discussed included economic development, healthcare, transportation, education, and predatory lending.

"The Florissant Valley Chamber was pleased with the first joint adventure of the Chambers and North County Incorporated. Hosting the Legislative forum together brings more creditability to the legislative agenda for this coming year, and it makes for a strong voice and unification," said Diana Weidinger, president of the Florissant Valley Chamber of Commerce.

This year's reception was hosted by SSM DePaul Health Center and sponsored by AT&T Missouri, Christian Hospital, McEagle Properties and St. Louis Community College at Florissant Valley.
