As this is the first in a series of articles,
let me begin by thanking the North County
Journals and Publisher Carolyn Marty for the
opportunity to share news about North County
Incorporated.
Established in 1977, North County Inc. (NCI)
is a non-profit regional development association
uniting business and community leadership,
enhancing the quality of life, promoting business
expansion, supporting job creation, and marketing
North County as a great place to live and
work. We represent the 47 municipalities and
the unincorporated areas of North County.
Businesses of all sizes, chambers, residents,
hospitals, schools, and a variety of other
organizations make up our membership. We coordinate
community, civic and business leaders to speak
in a unified voice on regional issues. We
connect people, ideas, and resources to promote
collaborative efforts that strengthen the
community. NCI committees work on education,
economic development, healthcare, transportation
& infrastructure, and marketing. We are an
advocate for the region and serve as "The
Voice" of North County.
NCI's most recent service to North County
brought together communities to highlight
the $2 billion investment, $184 million in
transportation improvements and the 3200 new
homes being planned for our area, and talk
with developers about future growth opportunities.
St. Louis County Executive Charlie A. Dooley
gave a North County progress report. NCI honored
Express Scripts, McEagle Development, Clayco
Realty Group and University of Missouri-St.
Louis for the new Express Scripts Headquarters'
development and Sansone for Plaza on the Boulevard
in Jennings. A special thanks to Christian
Hospital for hosting this event.
Coming up is NCI's 29th Annual Breakfast,
May 19 at 7:30 a.m. at the St. Louis Airport
Marriott, for residents, business, civic and
community leaders. The event is a great opportunity
to network and learn about NCI. We will honor
area individuals, organizations, and businesses
whose efforts have made a positive impact.
