When people find out that I am the president
of Corth County Inc. (NCI), I am often asked
"what does North County Inc. do?" My reply
is that we promote North County as a great
place to live, work, shop, worship, and learn.
The next question is "isn't that what a chamber
of commerce does?", and my answer is not entirely.
While our chambers of commerce do a wonderful
job, their focus is to promote the business
interests of their areas. North County Inc.
Promotes the entire North County experience.
A perfect example of this is a recent meeting
that NCI hosted for community leaders concerning
Jamestown Mall. A great many rumors had been
circulating recently about the mall's future
and so we were asked to put together a meeting
with the mall's management to discuss them.
While I cannot at this time discuss the
specifics until the mall owners can finalize
their plans, I can say that there appears
to be some exciting changes coming to Jamestown
Mall. I was also impressed with the fact that
one of the mall's owners took the time to
come to town from New York just to meet with
the communities served by the mall. This indicates
the level of commitment to progress and a
respect for the area's leadership. Likewise,
I was impressed with the fact that statistics
show Jamestown Mall to be one of the safest
shopping centers in the entire region with
crime levels way below the Galleria.
The final thing that was impressive was the
way the mall's management team listened to
the people in the room. There was actual give
and take going on. Too often, we in the community
find that once a presentation is made, the
presenters stop listening. This wasn't the
case, there was an actual dialogue going on
and it is my feeling that they will continue
to listen as the changes progress.
This is type of relationship building and
collaboration which nci can and does do. It
brings people and ideas together for the overall
good of North County.
If you get the opportunity, please join

NCI PRESIDENT
